We are in tune with the constantly evolving coffee world. Students are taught as per the specialty coffee standards. Our espresso machines and grinders are new and industry relevant so our students learn on equipment they’re most likely to work on in the industry.

INDUSTRY ACTIVE TRAINERS

When choosing where to undertake your barista training you should be asking: who will be training me? and what recent experience do they have in the industry ? Our trainers work as head baristas in well know cafes around Perth. They have a wealth of knowledge that comes from years of solid experience behind the machine.

JOB READY PROGRAMME

We have a range of courses, starting from the Basics to more advanced levels, that create a pathway to enter into the coffee world. To become a barista, you not only require a good solid foundation in coffee but also hours of practice and patience. Be prepared to start at the bottom of the ladder and then work your way up. Our courses are designed in such a way that you will “learn by doing ”

INDUSTRY PLACEMENT

Barista HQ has branched out as a cafe as well called Bespoke – by Barista HQ. We take pride in the coffees we serve. We are constantly growing and are always on the look out for a good team member. If you have a good attitude & are eager to learn, we will be happy to have a chat : )
Besides this, we also refer our students to cafes who are looking for staff.

CERTIFICATE

A certificate of Attendance is given to the students at the completion of each course. This certificate can be attached to your resumes while applying for jobs.

We offer ongoing support to our students and are happy to answer any questions you might have. Our students call us for advice like, how to I pursue this as a career? Which coffee machine should I buy for home use ? How do I practice what I’ve learnt? Can you help me to set up my new coffee shop?

Know Your Trainers

I started working in coffee at Bench Espresso during time as a student and moved on to work at various renown cafes in Melbourne whilst taking on a graduate position after university. I returned to Perth to work as Head Barista of Small Print and after a year and a half transitioned in to working as a trainer for renown Melbourne specialty coffee roaster, Dukes Coffee Roasters. Understanding that coffee is such a simple product to consume yet so much goes in to it when making one, my curiosity has lead to me here. Teaching others about coffee is essentially expressing my curiosity to others and so they attain an interest towards coffee and see what I see in it.

I have been making coffees for over 10 years. Currently restaurant manager at a cafe in west perth. Became interested and curious about coffee after working a few years in the hospitality industry throughout uni and so I began to research and learn about coffee through gathering experience and travels – including visiting coffee farms in South America. It’s rare to find someone or somewhere who has the time and opportunity to teach what’s relevant to the industry today including top tips to succeed in working in a fast pace environment. Therefore I strongly believe in and am passionate about passing on my skills and experience I’ve learnt over the years to those just starting out in the industry.

We have ample parking bays behind the cafe and also at the adjoining shopping centre (entry via Duncan Street )
*** Please do not park your car in the under cover car park on weekends as they close the gates at 5pm.

Yes, employers prefer people who have training in coffee making and latte art.

Everything is provided by us. Just carry a pen if you like to write things down.

Not really, Just wear closed comfortable non-slip footwear.

Yes, you can reschedule your class but we need at least 48 hrs notice. Strictly, no last minute reschedules.

No, the course is Non – Refundable.

Anyone above the age of 13 years can do the course.

Definitely Yes, as its a very hands on course, where you learn by doing things. It will also be good to let the trainer know at the start of the class and they would be happy to assist.
